Actually that’s not at all a secret spot in Cuba, I guess everybody who visited Cienfuegos port-city has come here, but can you imagine the incredible feeling of taking this in for the first time? This area is at the border with the Gran Parque Natural Topes de Collantes. We reached the bottom of the cascades via a historical war jeep that had been customized for fresh tourists (such as my friend; with no pretensions nor expectations). The general approach was: no hurry, flexible presence (8 guys to 6 seats), Cuban reggaeton music…and confidence in purchasing fuel from private unmarked fuel sources on the way into the forest. As a side-note: the water was -27C , which, after our swim, sent many of us to the jungle-toilet.
