Magna because it was great in every sense: as a territorial extension in the southern part of the Italian peninsula and thanks to the magnificence of its culture, richness, and notable cities throughout the Mediterranean sea such as Syracuse, Taranto, Crotone, Sibari…’Grecia’ or ‘Greece’ because it was inhabited by some Greek cities from the 8th century BC. It was the period of great social and cultural expansion for the Greek people; Magna Grecia actively contributed to sewing the seed of philosophical thought throughout the West.
