The North Shore is one of those precious regions of the Hawaiian island of Oahu as it’s the point where the cool trade winds blowing from the northeast accelerate in the strait alongside neighboring island Kauai. Here the shape of the waves is ideal for surfing. The beach is lined with dozens of houses inhabited by passionate sun kissed surfers and you can eat street food barefoot at the side of the road. It was fascinating to discover this place by wandering around on the moped through the ins and outs of Waimeia, also learning the history of the indigenous people and of the Kamehameha King who, under his reign towards the end of the 1700s, managed the incredible feat of uniting the Hawaiian Islands we now know today.
